I received the email from Clarion a few minutes ago. A large number of applications and limited number of seats to fill but alas my butt will not be one of them. The writing continues and I will try again next year.
Best of luck to the class of 2007.
Alas, I as well was not one of the applicants to be selected.
Not the first rejection slip, probably not the last.
Good Luck!
Doh. Glad to hear the writing continues. Expect some mail of the snail variety “soon”*.

Sorry to hear the news. Maybe next year!
It’s really a shame to hear that you didn’t get accepted this year. I wish you the best of luck for next year. Keep trying!
I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get in. But it really is an accomplishment to apply. I went for years considering applying, intending to apply, and then not doing it. Just like sending out the first submission is an accomplishment.
Show Clarion what they’re missing by getting those two application stories sold. 🙂
Have you tried Critters? I think it’s really taught me. Even though I’ve only had one of my stories critiqued, I learned a lot from critiquing others and reading others’ critiques. It’s at critters.org.
Thanks. Just going through the application process was a learning experience. I have used critters in the past, but I have a local writers group now that I use primarily. Follows Clarion critique rules, bunch of Clarion grads, etc. A really great bunch.
I will get those two stories sold, though 🙂 I’m also considering applying to Variable Paradise, which is still open for applications. It’s a one-week workshop with a different approach (from what I’ve read) than Clarion. Given the cast of instructors, it would be a good experience as well.
